Visiting Rose Parade Floats

One of the things Southern California is famous for us the New Year’s Rose Parade. It’s held about 30 minutes from where I live. I’m waiting until my kids are old enough to appreciate the floats to actually take them to watch the parade live one day. For now, I can make do with viewing the floats. The floats are put out on display for two days after the parade airs for public viewing. So being the night shift mom I am I woke up on three hours of sleep to go with my sister to take my kids out to see the floats. It was totally worth it on my lack only sleep to celebrate the New Year and take pride in our community.  This was one of my favorite floats. A giant sand castle! Living in L.A you appreciate a cute replica of the forum.  This rabbit looks so life like! Who knew lentils could make a dolphin?!? The floats smelled so good up close with all the roses!

When Daddy is Forced to Visit The American Girl Store

It's only fitting that I start my blog with a post of admiration to my husband who does what one does when his wife has to work a night weekend shift at the hospital. The best dad award goes to my husband for sucking it up and driving 1.5 hours in Los Angeles traffic to get my daughter to The Grove to take her doll to the American Girl store. I remember the original American Girl dolls Molly, Samantha, Kirsten, Felicity and Addie growing up. Back in the 90's this American Girl stuff was only available via catalog. Fast forward 20 years later and they have flagship stores for this kind of stuff. It's gotten so sophisticated that you can actually buy a doll that looks like your mini me. So of course being the sucker that I am, we got my daughter an American Girl doll.  The American Girl store has a doll hair salon, which requires you make an appointment online to reserve a spot. To my awesome husband, thank you for taking Savannah to get her doll's ears pier...
