When Daddy is Forced to Visit The American Girl Store

It's only fitting that I start my blog with a post of admiration to my husband who does what one does when his wife has to work a night weekend shift at the hospital. The best dad award goes to my husband for sucking it up and driving 1.5 hours in Los Angeles traffic to get my daughter to The Grove to take her doll to the American Girl store. I remember the original American Girl dolls Molly, Samantha, Kirsten, Felicity and Addie growing up. Back in the 90's this American Girl stuff was only available via catalog. Fast forward 20 years later and they have flagship stores for this kind of stuff. It's gotten so sophisticated that you can actually buy a doll that looks like your mini me. So of course being the sucker that I am, we got my daughter an American Girl doll.

The American Girl store has a doll hair salon, which requires you make an appointment online to reserve a spot. To my awesome husband, thank you for taking Savannah to get her doll's ears pierced and her hair braided. Looking at the menu below I'm in awe that you can buy your doll a hearing aid.

Here's Savannah in front of the Doll Hair Salon. When you have to work and miss out on fun stuff like this, you make the husband take a ton of pictures.

The before look with her AG doll"Samantha"

The process of getting this doll's hair done reminds me of the Bippity Boppity Botique at
Disneyland if you've ever been there.

And the aftermath, "Samantha" has a $25 heart shaped braid that was worth every penny and minute of fighting traffic to get to The Grove.

Here's to me finding my inner child hood through my daughter and hoping that this doll doesn't hit the closet in the next two years to make room for some other big toy release.
